Appalachian Wilderness Training

Welcome to Appalachian Wilderness Training. This site serves as home base for training modules related to prehospital medicine, wilderness medicine and search and rescue. 

Please excuse our mess, we are still in housekeeping mode as we roll out our initial course offerings. 

The goal of Appalachian Wilderness Training is to provide current, evidence-based, and cutting-edge developments in the world of prehospital care, with an emphasis on wilderness medicine and search and rescue. We strive to conduct our trainings following the principles of sustainability, leave no trace, and wilderness stewardship. Our trainings are designed to have minimal impact on the environment in which we provide trainings.

While we are primarily based in Pennsylvania, our intention is to provide trainings throughout the wilderness of the Appalachian Mountain chain. The faculty have an in-depth knowledge and experience in the technical aspects of search and rescue, wilderness medicine, and the adult learner.
